ABOUT
Music Makes Connections’ mission is to offer the powerful results of music therapy to as many individuals as possible and to maintain the highest quality of therapeutic interventions.
We are a music therapy provider serving Southwest and Eastern Idaho. Music Makes Connections (MMC) started as a conversation between two friends looking to expand people's access to the unique and powerful benefits of music therapy. Though Matthew Jordan had been providing therapy through other organizations for several years, he was finally able to launch MMC, his private practice, late in 2010 with one client, a reliable sidekick willing to deal with the business stuff, and a lot of hope. That hope has flourished into many amazing opportunities to reach out to a number of clients from many walks of life. As our opportunities to help others grow, we are increasingly inspired by the outcomes possible through music therapy for people across a spectrum of difficulties, diseases, and disorders. Whatever your barrier to wellness or learning, music makes connections can help. |
Matthew Jordan, MTBCMatthew is the head music therapist and owner of Music Makes Connections. After receiving a BA in music from Brigham Young University in 2002 Matthew worked at a nonpublic special education school in Sacramento, CA. It was here he realized his desire to use music to help people improve their quality of life. Two years later Matthew returned to school at Utah State University to complete an equivalency in music therapy. After completing his internship in Salt Lake City, UT and receiving his Music Therapy Board Certification (MT-BC), Matthew decided to move with his family to Boise, ID and begin work as a music therapist.
Matthew began working in hospice as a music therapist in March 2008 and in 2012 made the move to owning his own music therapy company. He works with a wide variety of populations including children and adults with developmental disabilities, patients with aphasia and adults with dementia. Matthew loves how music can help people achieve non-musical goals that provide positive changes in their life and is committed to providing all his clients with a therapeutic experience that will be most beneficial to them and their individual needs. When not working with clients Matthew spends time educating local community groups and community leaders about the benefits of music therapy, serving as a board member of the Idaho Music Therapy Association and spending time with his wife and 8 children. |
