SINGLE CLIENT SESSION Music therapy is most effective when there is a three-way relationship between the client, the therapist and the music. That is why each session the therapist seeks to engage the client in a musical experience using live music that helps them accomplish non-musical goals set by them and the therapist. While each session may be a bit different, you will typically see the client and therapist singing together, playing instruments, moving to music and creating improvised music. The music therapist will provide a variety of instruments for these sessions. |
GROUP SESSIONS . Group sessions mirror single client sessions in that live music is played and clients engage in the music using instruments provided by the therapist. Group sessions are most effective when all clients have very similar non-musical goals they are working on. |
